Some important information for Medicare Patients:
WILL MEDICARE
CONTINUE?
We urge you to continue to follow what Congress does about Medicare over the next year. Currently, Medicare pays only a small percentage of physician's fees for Part-B (out-patient) care, and until June of 2010, there was no increase in the reimbursement rates. Since then, there has been no additional increase, and the government periodically threatens to cut rates as part of budget cutting.
As you may know, many practices refuse to take Medicare. If the rates are cut, it will be impossible for many practices to continue to take Medicare.
The issue of Medicare reimbursement rates has been raging for the last few years. It is a difficult time for Medicare providers. It would be a good idea to let your legislators know how you feel about the effect of rate cuts on your ability to obtain quality medical care.
Medi-Gap Insurance
Secondary, or "Medi-Gap," insurance covers all or part of what Medicare does not cover. Note that most Medi-Gap policies have a deductible that must be met before they pay anything.
